Welcome to The Weekly Joke
Bad performances make you stronger
Oh boy, this was certainly embarrassing.
During my last show, a lot went wrong.
A couple weeks ago, I had my biggest show yet. I was on the “mainstage” at The Comedy Chateau, performing alongside some comics who have toured nationally and performed in arenas. Some comics old enough, they look like someone’s great grandaddy. I HAD TO GET IT TOGETHER AND PERFORM, you hear me.
However, something in the audience threw me OFF. There was a misunderstanding with one of my guests and it left me out of focus. Nonetheless, it’s my job to get my head in the game. I don’t talk to myself in the mirror for nothing.
I had to wait for about an hour and some change, then, it was my turn to perform. I walk on stage with nerves a bit heightened and then…
I forgot a couple jokes - I stumbled over my words - I told jokes in a different order, which threw me off - and I just didn’t speak as smoothly as I usually do.
It was bad. I’m talking Michael Jackson BAD. But the good thing about this story is I survived.
I walked off stage and moved on. My friends even said they enjoyed the performance to my surprise.
Also, my next show a week later was my BEST one yet. All I needed was a good ole kick in the arse to step it up.

1. Comedy in the news
Ryan Gosling transforms into Beavis for ‘SNL’ Beavis & Butt-Head skit
Oh my God. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed this hard at a Saturday Night Live skit. The picture tells it all. What a throwback to the iconic Beavis and Butt-Head, and they nailed this performance! It’s so funny when they break character.
I’m not even a huge SNL fan, but when Ryan is there, it’s always going to be a hit. Check out this clip of the skit, but honestly, the whole episode was fire.

Rob Schneider had a comedy set so “raunchy” his show was cut short at a Republican event. Who Knew??
According to Politico, Schneider was cut off AFTER ONLY TEN minutes into a half-hour comedy set at a holiday Republican networking event last year…because, get this, his material was too offensive. You would think the party that calls people in the other party “snowflakes” would be able to handle a little bit of dirt. Guess they are the real snow cones.
It could just be me, but this shocked me. Rob always had a sweet persona in his movies like in one of my favorites, 50 First Dates. Here’s the tea on the situation.
2. The Weekly Joke
This is my favorite part of the newsletter. I want YOU to help me shape my comedy career. In this section, I will give you the start of two jokes and you vote on which one I should finish AND perform at my next show (or when I’m done writing it). Ready to vote?
Joke A: I’ve never smoked weed before, but somehow became a spokesperson for it on social media…(yes, this one from last week is now Joke A, get OVER it).
Joke B: I grew up Catholic…could you imagine if…
3. Update from last week’s joke
Last week, you chose Joke A: ‘After age 33, there are no more cool birthday milestones. It goes downhill from there…’
I’m surprised this one won actually but I’m really excited about it! I think it’ll be a good one once I cook it up in the lab. I haven’t had a chance to write it yet, but I’ll be in Austin, TX this weekend, so maybe I’ll perform it. Certainly, I’ll update you on next week’s newsletter!
4. Comic of the Week
This week’s comic of the week is…Rob Schn…wait, you didn’t really think I’d go there did you?
Anywho, this week’s real comic of the week is the one and only Marlon Wayans. I’ve been watching this guy since I was a kid and it was announced he has a fourth comedy special, Good Grief, on the way with Prime Video. More on that.
And who knew my man knows how to find his inner comic and is a big meditator.
5. About this newsletter
